Background

Since 1982, Wayland & Vukadinovich LLP has been providing quality, personalized financial guidance to local individuals and businesses. Wayland & Vukadinovich LLP's expertise ranges from tax compliance and planning and accounting services to more in-depth services such as transactional tax planning and related consulting services, financial statements, and financial planning.

Our Mission

Our mission is to help clients maintain financial viability in the present while taking a proactive approach to achieve future goals. This requires open communication to reach an understanding of our clients' needs, thorough research, and sound analysis. We are dedicated to meeting these goals with high standards of excellence and professionalism.

Gary Carlton Wayland

Gary Carlton Wayland received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Southern California in 1974. He obtained a Masters degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University in 1988, and he was certified by the California State Board of Accountancy in December 1976.

Prior to establishing his practice in Hermosa Beach in December 1979, Gary was with the national public accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche for almost six years.

Gary was the recipient of the National Association of Accountants Scholarship Award in 1973. He was also the recipient of an American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Honorable Mention certificate for the May 1974 CPA exam by receiving scores in the top fifty nationwide. Gary received the Volunteer Achievement Award from Accountants for the Public Interest in 1990 for his work on behalf of the Clearinghouse for Volunteer Accounting Services. He received the Outstanding Board Member Award from the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce in 1992, 1993, and 1994, and was the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year in 1995.

Gary’s professional activities include membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce, Team Heal Foundation (where he currently serves as Treasurer), Diabetic Youth Services (where he currently serves as Treasurer), the City of Manhattan Beach Facilities Strategic Planning Task Force and the Manhattan Beach Athletic Foundation which recently completed a fundraising drive to renovate the athletic track facility at Mira Costa High School.

Michael Vukadinovich

Michael Vukadinovich received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Loyola University of Los Angeles in 1974 and his Masters degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University. He was certified by the California State Board of Accountancy in April 1977.

Michael started his career in the Los Angeles office of the international accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche. For a period of eight years he served as a manager in the Emerging Business Department serving clients in diverse fields of manufacturing, insurance, leasing and services.

Michael is currently responsible for income tax compliance and planning for individuals, corporations, partnerships, estates and trusts.

Michael’s professional activities include membership in the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and tax division member. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity Greater Los Angeles for ten years having served as its Chief Financial Officer and as President of the Board of Directors.

Susan Patterson

Susan Patterson received her CGA Accounting Degree in 1980 from the University of British Columbia. In 1987, Susan graduated from the J L Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois with a Masters in Management. In 2006, she graduated with honors from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California with a Masters of Science in Taxation.

Susan worked for Price Waterhouse for seven years in Vancouver, British Columbia before taking on the Vice President, Finance and Treasurer position with a client, North Pacific Shipping. She moved to Chicago and then England before settling in Hermosa Beach. Among other volunteer activities including the Junior League, Beach Cities Health District and various PTAs, Susan worked as the Executive Director of the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation for seven years. She came to Wayland & Vukadinovich in February, 2003.

Susan is now a Tax Manager with responsibility for tax preparation of Individuals, Corporations, Partnerships, Estates, Trusts, and Exempt Organizations.

Midge Leatherbury

Midge Leatherbury has been with Wayland & Vukadinovich since 1989 and is now Senior Bookkeeper. As a full charge bookkeeper, she provides bookkeeping services for many types of businesses. She has experience with many accounting software packages available today including Quickbooks, Quicken and Creative Solutions.

Midge is available to provide specific accounting support such as payroll processing, sales tax reports, and workers compensation reports as well as general ledger, financial statement preparation and bank reconciliations.

Gina Stevens

Gina Stevens is at the front desk and is usually the first face you see when you visit our office. As office manager, she supervises the scheduling of tax season appointments and the general operations of the office.

Gina joined Wayland & Vukadinovich in 1997 and previously worked in a similar position with a West Los Angeles labor law firm.
